The following translation was made by David Prilutsky as part of an ancient Greek course at The Lawrenceville School in 2020-2021. It was reviewed by Krateros Project Manager Aaron Hershkowitz and Krateros Project Director Angelos Chaniotis.

O dearest stranger, you wonder indeed

Who and from where I am.

On the one hand Kos is my fatherland

And on the other hand I,

By the name of Neikomēdēs, am a

Servant of the Muses

Singing Homer in the thymelai (the theaters)

Having laughed at judgements

I wrap myself in Sweet sleep
